Reproductive Mental Health Counseling in Chicago & Online
Support through the experiences of building a family, loss, and change.
The journey of building a family can hold more than one feeling at a time. There may be hope and excitement alongside fear, grief, uncertainty, or exhaustion. You may find yourself making decisions you never expected to face, navigating medical systems, or trying to understand how an experience has changed you.
Infertility, fertility treatment, pregnancy loss, pregnancy after loss or infertility, and the transition to parenthood can affect how you experience your body, your relationships, your sense of self, and the future you imagined.
You don't have to feel one particular way about your experience. You can be grateful and grieving, hopeful and afraid, connected to your family and still miss parts of your life before.
At Integrative Perspectives Counseling and Consulting, I offer reproductive mental health counseling for individuals and couples navigating the emotional and relational experiences of family building, reproductive decisions, loss, and parenthood.
When your reproductive journey touches so many parts of your life
Reproductive experiences rarely stay within one part of our lives. They can shape relationships, identity, work, friendships, intimacy, and how we relate to our bodies.
You might be trying to make sense of a diagnosis, a difficult treatment decision, or another unexpected change in plans. You might be carrying grief that other people don't fully understand, or feel pressure to move forward before you're ready.
Perhaps you have spent so much time managing appointments, decisions, and other people's feelings that there hasn't been much room for your own.
You may also be navigating how your experience affects your relationship. Partners can move through the same experience differently, leaving each person feeling alone, misunderstood, or unsure how to reach the other.
Therapy can offer space to understand what you're carrying, including the feelings and perspectives that don't easily fit together.
Reproductive mental health counseling for the experiences you're navigating
Infertility & Fertility Counseling
Infertility can change your relationship with time, your body, your future, and the people around you. Whether you're beginning testing, considering treatment, navigating IVF, weighing next steps, or living with uncertainty, therapy can help you explore the emotional weight of these decisions and experiences.
Pregnancy Loss Counseling
Pregnancy loss can bring grief, shock, anger, guilt, disconnection, or feelings that are difficult to name. There is no single way to grieve, and your relationship with the pregnancy and your loss deserves room to be understood. Counseling can support you as you make sense of your experience, your relationships, and what comes next, if and when you're ready.
Pregnancy After Infertility or Loss
A pregnancy following infertility or loss can hold excitement, vulnerability, fear, and uncertainty. Experiences from the past may shape how you relate to this pregnancy, your body, and the people caring for you. You may feel pressure to be happy or struggle to trust that things can be different. There is room for the experience you are actually having.
Postpartum & the Transition to Parenthood
Becoming a parent can bring love, connection, and meaning alongside grief, overwhelm, anxiety, identity shifts, or unexpected disconnection. You may be adjusting to a new relationship with your body, your partner, or yourself. This transition can feel particularly layered after infertility, loss, fertility treatment, or a medically complex pregnancy.
Third-Party Reproduction & Family Building
Family building through donor conception, reciprocal IVF, gestational carriers, or other forms of third-party reproduction can involve meaningful decisions, complex emotions, and questions about identity, relationships, disclosure, and expectations. Counseling can provide space to explore these experiences individually or as a couple, including the questions that may not have straightforward answers.
I also offer consultation and third-party reproductive evaluations as separate services. These have different purposes and processes from therapy.
When your experience affects your relationship
Reproductive experiences can bring couples closer in some moments and leave them feeling further apart in others. You may be grieving differently, disagreeing about next steps, struggling with intimacy, or feeling alone in the practical and emotional work of family building.
Sometimes one partner wants to talk while the other needs space. Sometimes both are hurting but have difficulty recognizing what is happening for the other.
Couples counseling offers a place to understand these patterns and the experiences underneath them, while making room for each person's perspective, needs, and pain.
A place to begin
You don't need to have a clear goal for therapy or know exactly what you need. You may want help with a specific decision, a relationship that feels strained, grief that keeps resurfacing, or an experience you haven't had space to process.
I work with individuals and couples, meeting you with curiosity rather than assumptions about what your journey should look like or what healing should mean for you.
If you're considering counseling, I'd welcome the opportunity to connect.
